Lawrence Jackson Family - Jay Co., IN

Today I finished sourcing the census records of the Lawrence Delbert Jackson family in the 1900-1920 census of Jay Co., IN. Lawrence married my paternal great-grandaunt, Minerva Prudence Wehrly.

Lawrence was a painter and mail carrier who lived in the 4th ward of Portland, IN. Lawrence and Minerva had 9 children, one of whom died young per 1900 census records. My notes say that they were married in October of 1885, probably in Jay County as well.

Hi, Travis:

My name is Patsy Moore. My great-grandmother was Jesse Loofbourrow, whose mother was Martha LeMasters. You have probably had contact with other family members who have been involved in researching the family for years. I'm coming to it later in my life.

So if you have suggestions on where the best place to start (beyond talking to family members) is, I would appreciate any input.

And, I'd love to find out how our families are connected. Take care. Patsy Moore

Patsy,

Hi! Good to hear from you. Jesse Loofbourrow would be my first cousin 3 times removed, through the common ancestor of Luman Walker Lemasters & Nancy Young.

My advise besides talking to family members and writing down everything (including sources!) would be to work your way back - start with the present and what you know. Use census records, birth & death records, obituaries, etc. to start to get a complete picture.

Email me with your line and we can learn more about how exactly close we are related.
