The BRIGGS surname is in my paternal line.  The origins of the surname are English.

Anhnentafel # 141 : Beulah Briggs (1773-1854).  Beulah was born 1773 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  She married John Woolston (1766-1838) in 1793 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  They had at least one son.  John died April 12, 1838 at Mt. Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Beulah died April 28, 1854.

Ahnentafel # 282 : Abel Briggs (c1740-bef1839).  Abel was born circa 1740 in New Jersey.  He married Lettice Woolston (1752-1787) on January 25, 1773 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Lettice was born October 15, 1752 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  They had at least one daughter.  Abel died before 1839 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Lettice died December 11,1787 in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Ahnentafel # 564 : Francis Briggs (1715-1763).  Francis was born 1715 in Salem County, New Jersey.  He married Rachel Stockton (aft1715-   ).  Rachel was born after 1715 in Springfield, Burlington County, New Jersey.  They had at least one son.  Francis died June 1, 1763 in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Ahnentafel # 1128 : John Briggs (c1680-bef1753).  John was born circa 1680 in Newton, Salem County, New Jersey.  He married Sarah Smith (c1680-     ).  Sarah was born circa 1680 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England.  They had at least one son.  John died January 20, 1753 in Newton, Salem County, New Jersey.

Ahnentafel # 35 : Caroline Bishop Woolston (1826-1879). Caroline was born February 6, 1826 in Vincentown, Burlington County, New Jersey. She married December 29, 1842 in New Jersey to Dr. Ezekiel Cooper Chew (1822-1888). Ezekiel was born January 17, 1822 in Gloucester, New Jersey. They lived in Montgomery and Darke Cos. Ohio where they raised a family of 14 children. Caroline died February 27, 1879 in Rossburg, Darke County, Ohio and is buried in the Webster Cemetery, Rossburg, Darke County, Ohio. Ezekiel died August 27, 1888 in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

Abel was born in 1797 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  He married September 11, 1819 in Burlington County, New Jersey to Rachel Woolston (1800-1851), his second cousin. Rachel was born April 19, 1800 in Burlington County, New Jersey. They raised 5 children in Burlington County, New Jersey. Rachel died September 11, 1851 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Abel died January 12, 1834 in Burlington County, New Jersey.

My maternal 4th-great grandparents, John T. BEALS and Mary DAVIS, were married on this date in 1848 in Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.  John was born June 25, 1827 in Clinton County, Ohio, the son of Nathan C. and Elizabeth (CHEW) BEALS.  Mary's birth was recorded 9th month, 9th day of 1825 at Holly Spring Monthly Meeting, Randolph County, North Carolina.  They had 6 children and lived in Washington Township, Hamilton County, Indiana.  John served in the 101st Regiment, Indiana Volunteers where he mustered out as a 1st Lieutenant.  Mary died July 18, 1909 in Cicero, Hamilton County, Indiana.  John died September 18, 1917 in Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana.  Both are buried in the Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.

My maternal great-grandaunt, Leona D. LAMBERTSON, married on this date in 1968 to Joseph CARPENTER.  Leona was born August 20, 1904 in Hamilton County, Indiana, the daughter of Charles Wilson and Pearl May (BEALS) LAMBERTSON, and the younger sister of my Clemon Beals LAMBERTSON.  Joseph was born December 22, 1907 in Windfall, Tipton County, Indiana, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (________) CARPENTER.  Leona's first husband, Clarence Everett FETZ, had passed away in 1964.  Joseph died April 29, 1968 in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.  Leona died July 12, 1988.


My paternal 3rd-great grandaunt, Elizabeth JACOBS, married on this date in 1842 in Wayne County, Ohio, to Joseph NEISWINDER.  Elizabeth was the daughter of David and Barbara (BYERS) JACOBS, and the older sister of my Susan JACOBSElizabeth was born July 25, 1821 in Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.  I do not have dates of birth or death, nor parentage for Joseph.  Elizabeth died March 23, 1893.  Nothing further is known at this time.

My maternal 7th-great grandmother, Elizabeth SPOFFORD, was born on this date in 1715 in Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas and Bethiah (HAZELTINE) SPOFFORD.  Elizabeth married December 18, 1734 in Deerfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts to Bennett FIELD, son of John and Mary (BENNETT) FIELD.  Bennett was born December 13, 1709 in Deerfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.  They had at least 2 children.  Bennett died April 6, 1770 in Mansfield, Windham County, Connecticut.  Elizabeth died November 20, 1772 in Mansfield, Windham County, Connecticut.


My paternal 4th-great grandmother, Rachel WOOLSTON, was born on this date in 1800 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Rachel was the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (HAINES) WOOLSTON.  Rachel married September 11, 1819 in Burlington County, New Jersey to Abel B. My maternal 2nd-great grandfather, Charles Wilson LAMBERTSON, was born on this date in 1872 in Preble County, Ohio.  Charles was the son of Carey W. and Clara E. (COOK) LAMBERTSON.  Charles married April 18, 1897 in Cicero, Hamilton County, Indiana to Pearl May BEALS.  Pearl was born May 11, 1878 in Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana, the daughter of Nathan Thomas and Caroline Elizabeth (POE) BEALS.  Pearl died August 3, 1970 in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.  Charles died May 24, 1958 in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana.


My maternal 4th-great grandaunt, Minerva P. PIERCE, was born on this date in 1803.  Minerva was the daughter of Gordon and Thirsa (SMALLEY) PIERCE, and the older sister of my Edmund PIERCE.  Minerva married February 10, 1829 to Jethro HATCH.  Jethro was born circa 1791 in New York.  They had 5 children and lived in Kane County, Illinois.  Jethro died February 7, 1875. Minerva died sometime after the 1880 census.
